This week, the Enabling Subsea Interconnectors workshop convened in The Philippines, bringing together representatives from all ASEAN member states alongside participation from the upcoming new member, Timor Leste.
The workshop provided an important platform to advance dialogue on the ASEAN Power Grid (APG), with knowledge sharing through a series of interesting case studies. A nice group of international experts shared practical perspectives from experiences in Europe and the present, ongoing and planned interconnection projects within the ASEAN region.
I had the opportunity to contribute by delivering a short talk on two failure investigation case studies, emphasizing the importance of reliability, learning from past incidents, and embedding failure investigations as a central part of future interconnector developments.
I extend my sincere appreciation to ASEAN Centre for Energy for the leadership in creating a collaborative environment and strengthening the regional ecosystem for cross-border subsea interconnections. Thank you also to Transco for hosting and Uniten R&D.
