29 and 30 September 2025.
The 4th technical training session on the topic of Utility-Scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) this year.
Attended by 35 participants from various backgrounds including hydro and solar PV plants operators, transmission system operators, consultants and quality assurance engineers.
Among the new areas covered in this session, we briefly explored:
a. Community Energy Storage Systems (CESS) – emerging models enabling shared resilience and localized grid benefits.
b. Fire Risk Mitigation – latest guidelines, technologies, and safety frameworks designed to address one of the industry’s most critical challenges.
c. Quality Assurance in BESS – practical approaches to Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) that help ensure reliability and long-term performance.
d. Behind the Meter (BtM) BESS applications for peak demand management.
Thank you IK Academy for the collaboration and for your continued support.

At Volta Forensic, we support power utilities, developers, and regulators in the following areas:
a. Investigating failures and fire incidents
b. Providing independent quality assurance inspection during Type Test, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and other testing, inspection and certification type services via our association with KEMA Labs .
c. Advisory support on safe deployment of CESS and large-scale BESS projects.
d. Financial modeling, feasibility studies, specifications review and other consultancy type services via our agency with CESI SpA
We are optimistic to contribute and see how these discussions will shape upcoming projects and support the wider (and safer) adoption of energy storage in Malaysia and the ASEAN region.
